'I don't have any shoes and I want to walk,' Greta Garbo told the Italian shoe designer, Salvatore Ferragamo in 1927, and believe me, I know how she felt. This week if I had two ha'pennies to rub together these fabulous Ferragamo wedges would be making their way to That's Not My Age mansions. The perfect shoe for a grown-up autumn (so long as it doesn't rain and public transport isn't an issue) has a low heel, is crafted from super-soft suede and comes in this truly magnificent colour. One of four different types of Garbo-style shoes in the Ferragamo A/W 2010 collection.
But how to wear an orange suede low-wedge? In true movie star fashion I'd team them with a pair of wide leg trousers and a silk blouse:
And when winter comes, I'll get out the suede protector and wear them with a Hollywood-style cashmere sweater and vintage Chanel scarf:
Now if you'll forgive me, I'd like to be left alone with my film star footwear.

Wow, they're really something. When I was at school, 12ish I guess, my best friend had an older sister and Ferragamos were a bit of a thing for girls her age. I don't remember them being so high-end then, but it was a different world.
You know, I often think of a pair of shoes the older sister had - a 40s wedge with ankle strap and I think a flower, all in glorious cherry-red suede. What I wouldn't give for those now.
Great colour, great design and in Italy they make shoes like this all the time. Good old Greta she said it like it was.
I'll be dreaming of these tonight.

that's a brilliant colour combination! I'd never think of teaming that with grey.
I don't suit grey, it makes me a tad corpse-like, but a flash of orange between me and the grey would work, I think.
So, of course, I'll need the SHOES to pull the whole thing together....so much nicer than my existing walking shoe, made by those lovely designers at *cough, cough* Nike ;-)

This is a beautiful palette you have put together here. But OMG those shoes are a work of art. I know what you mean it would be hard to wear them on public transport. Could carry a spare pair for that and the rain.
